budapest - The Hungarian President Janos Ader on Monday put his signature under the controversial law on universities. Threatening the survival of a university founded by philanthropist and billionaire George Soros.

The Hungarian parliament recently went all agree with the law, which stipulates that foreign universities must meet new conditions. The legislation appears to critics to be specifically designed to force the Hungarian-American Soros founded Central European University (CEU) conclusion.

Tens of thousands of Hungarians went this weekend to the streets to call on their president to block implementation of the law. That proved vain. Ader said in a statement that the legislation in his eyes does not infringe the freedom of education or international law.
