Huge chunk of jade found in Myanmar

Miners in Myanmar found a gem weighing 175 tonnes, reports the online magazine Indonesian Makassar Terkini. The gigantic chunk of jade is 5.8 to 4.3 meters tall and has a value of around 155 million euros. The gemstone was found in the northern state of Kachin and has been renamed the 'celestial stone.'

Myanmar is known as one of the countries to be found where the most beautiful gemstones in the world. Jade is a very hard, light to dark green gemstone.

The largest buyer of these gemstones is China. This stone will likely be sold to China, where great importance is attached to jade. Previously were only Chinese emperors jade in their possession. Now that rule no longer exists, also collect many ordinary Chinese jade objects and are therefore more popular than ever.
