Higher appeal drug store Frank Masmeijer begins

antwerp - At the appeal court in Antwerp, the appeal starts on Thursday in the large drug store in which former TV presenter Frank Masmeijer plays an alleged role. Masmeijer received eight years in prison and a fine of 48,000 euros for involvement in the import of 467 kilos of cocaine via the port of Antwerp. Against him seven years in prison had been demanded. The former NCRV television star has always denied his share and therefore appealed.

The case has a total of 32 suspects and for their appeal the court has spent a total of three days in June. When the case of Masmeijer and his defense are discussed, is not yet known.

It is also unclear whether the 56-year-old Dutchman is present at the trial. He was in custody for ten months but is now free. According to his lawyer Geert-Jan Knoops he wants to defend himself but also risks a detention when he is back in Belgium. According to Knoops, his client currently resides in the Netherlands.
