'Hero of Parkland' gets good news after 9 operations

Borges was injured while trying to find a safe haven with his fellow students. He was the last of the approximately twenty young people who entered a room. The shooter hit the teenager several times as he tried to lock the door. The other students in the room remained unharmed.

The teenager has now nine operations behind it. Part of his lung has been removed. The bullets also nearly pierced his liver, according to NBC News. Borges said that he 'thought he would die,' but that he now feels 'right.'
