- Minister Jeanine Hennis (Defence) welcomes the proposal by Germany and Turkey to ask NATO allies to help in the monitoring of refugees who want to go from Turkey to Greece. That the minister said Tuesday during a debate in parliament.

Well there are a number of conditions, according to the minister. NATO ships need to operate close to the Turkish coast and picked up refugees must go back to Turkey. Tens of thousands of migrants are still trying every month through Turkey to reach the EU.

Whether the Netherlands will contribute, Hennis could not say. Turkish-German request is addressed during discussions of NATO ministers in Brussels on Wednesday and Thursday. US President Barack Obama has declared not to be negative about the request.
