london - The BBC's Saturday embarrassed by hackers. They used the Twitter account from BBC Northampton to report that an attack was perpetrated on the American President Donald Trump.

'Breaking News: President Trump was wounded in the arm by shots,' ushered in the tweet that was sent Saturday morning. Online skeptical responded: 'It seems strange that BBC Northampton this news first would bring,' wrote one. The fake news was quickly removed, but had already shared via Twitter.

President Trump indeed appeared to be unharmed. The BBC reported later in the day that the account had been hacked. 'We investigate and take measures to ensure that this can not happen again,' vowed a spokesman at the news of broadcasting.

It is still unclear who is responsible for the cyber intrusions. BBC Northampton offered followers on Twitter to apologize for the 'unusual tweet. '
