- Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen on Saturday condemned the failed coup attempt in his country. The power must be obtained through fair elections, not through violence, he said in a statement.
In the statement, he denied having carried out any role in the coup attempt.
Gülen, a rival of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has lived in self-imposed exile in the US state of Pennsylvania.
