amsterdam - Greenpeace would have covered several #MeToo incidents between employees.

According to whistleblowers, nude photos of volunteers were distributed in South America. 44 former employees speak of 'a pattern' in Vrij Nederland. Their complaints would have been stashed away.

The scandal takes place at the office of the environmental organization in Buenos Aires. Ten women and three men complained about logistics director Leonardo Silva.

He would have, among other things, shown private photos of a volunteer to other male employees. He also stalked female colleagues and made denigrating and sexist remarks.

But his boss Prieto also turned out to be no better for her. 'In the office, the director looked at porn, the sound. When we were traveling for a campaign, he was almost naked one day, with only a towel for his genitals in front of my hotel door, 'the magazine quotes a complainant.

Greenpeace says in a reaction that Prieto has been made non-active for the time being.

The 44 complainers eventually turned to the Greenpeace office in Amsterdam.

In 2011 and 2012 there was already a scandal within Greenpeace. In India, two women complained about intimidating approach attempts by a male colleague. 'One woman even got the 'order' to join the man's hotel room at night. Instead of vigorously intervening, management responded with condescending 'suggestions', writes VN. Among other things, the women had to learn to stand up for themselves better. In retrospect, the organization thinks that this is far too late.

'The realization of these shortcomings at the Indian office has led to our initiative to set up a new integrity system worldwide, unanimously approved last year by the General Directors' meeting.'

Complaints also came from an office in Southeast Asia. A young 'Papuan anthropologist and forest activist' felt like a female worker and thought she was being treated 'denigrating'.

Vrij Nederland observes: 'Women get the blame themselves, complainers are referred back to the regional offices where the perpetrators are held over their heads. '
