athens - The Greek coast guard saved about seventy boat refugees in the night from Sunday to Monday. The boat with the refugees floated adrift around the Aegean Sea. The Coast Guard vessel dragged to the port of the southern Velanidia.

The boat engine was inoperative middle of the sea. By radio a distress signal could be given. Greek police suspect that the refugees had started their trip from the Turkish coast and wanted to sail to Italy. The route through the Balkans is now shunned by refugees.
