Government pulls controversial amnesty in Romania

bucharest - The Romanian government has withdrawn the controversial amnesty for some forms of corruption. That is a result of mass protests against the proposed measure.

Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu on Sunday in a cabinet meeting formally decided to abandon the plan. The scheme would only abuse of office are punishable as fraudulent converted amount exceeds 50 000.
