- Syrian government forces and their allies on Thursday a strategic town southeast of the capital Damascus retaken by rebels. This was reported in the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which relies on reports from activists.
At the reconquest of Deir al-Asafir filled fighters of the Lebanese Hezbollah an important role, said the director of the Observatory, Ram Abdul Rahman. The battle took place not far from the spot where recently a major Hezbollah commander, Mustafa Badreddine, was slain in shootings by the rebels. Government forces and their allies also took advantage of fighting between rebel groups themselves, said Abdul Rahman.
