Google loses appeal against Russian fine

Google loses appeal against Russian fine

Tech August 18, 2016 09:33

moscow - Google has failed to get out of a Russian penalty. The company went to court, but Wednesday was not right. The Russian cartel watchdog Google last week had given a fine of 438 million rubles (six million euros).

The judge disagreed with Google that the cartel watchdog had miscalculated the market share. In this way it was calculated that Google has a dominant market position.

According to the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service Google puts too many demands on mobile phone makers that want to run their devices on Android. Competitors would have too much trouble to add their services standard to Android. The watchdog has been working for a while with Google after the Russian search engine Yandex had filed a complaint.
