Google designs 'strong women' emoji

- Some Google employees have developed thirteen new Emoji themed 'strong female role models. ' It involves emoji of working women in occupations that are still mostly associated with men.

The figures include a female welder, construction worker, rock star and chipmaker. The emoji be submitted to the Unicode Consortium, the organization that deals with the introduction of new emoji. Each female emoji then also is a male version that can be selected separately.

The idea behind the new Emoji is that it is good to give girls and young women are more examples of the roles they can play in society. Young women are the most avid users of emoji, so the idea is that they do not constantly get the stereotypical 'female jobs' presented in this way.

The proposal is part of a new trend to create more diverse emoji. For instance, recently introduced the possibility to choose the color of such a figure.

It is not yet known when the new emoji are reviewed by the Unicode Consortium.
