peer - A 13-year-old girl was injured on Monday morning in the Belgian Wijchmaal, located in the town of Peer, when she was stabbed in her neck with a knife in her school. The perpetrator was an 18-year-old fellow pupil. This young man has been arrested.
The stabbing took place outside the St. Elisabeth School on the public road. The girl was taken to a hospital in Overpelt after the incident but has returned home. The reason for the cutting party is not yet clear.
'Both the management of the school concerned and the police of the Kempenland zone provide shelter for witnesses of the facts and the co-pupils of the suspect and victim', says the Hasselt section of the Limburg public prosecutor's office at Het Nieuwsblad. Parents were also informed by the school.
