Germany rolls up a large download network

frankfurt - In Germany a large platform for illegal downloading of movies, TV series, music, software, games and e-books has been taken out of the air. The German-speaking UsenetRevolution.info network had about 27,000 members. The site was on servers in the Netherlands.

The action was announced on Friday. The German police have searched the homes of 42 people throughout the country. This includes computers that have been seized. The oldest suspect is 72 years old, the youngest 23. The chief suspect, the alleged portal manager, is a 49-year-old man from the Frankfurt area. For example, the other suspects would have offered, or otherwise helped, protected material.

The other German suspects include the regions around Berlin, Essen, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Dresden and Osnabrück.
