Germany is greatly expanding toll trucks

berlin - The number of provincial roads in Germany where trucks have to pay a toll increases drastically from Sunday. At the moment, 2300 kilometers have to be paid, which will be expanded to 39,000 kilometers or the complete provincial road network, according to German media Thursday.

The toll, which is also levied on the 13,000 kilometers of motorway in Germany, applies to trucks heavier than 7.5 tons.

The toll does not harm the German state. It is expected that 7.2 billion will flow annually to the already overflowing German state treasury. The expansion is 2.5 billion more than now. The amount includes new rates that apply from 1 January.

The transport sector in Germany is not happy with more toll because of rising costs. Minister of Transport Andreas Scheuer (CSU), however, says that the companies also benefit because the roads will be better maintained.
