- What has already been successful in the Netherlands, Belgium and many other EU countries, is in Germany but not from the ground: a ban on the keeping of circus animals. Friday the Federal Council agreed to a proposal that the German Government is called upon to introduce a ban.

Or Berlin after failed attempts in 2003 and 2011 now comply with such a prohibition is, however, questionable. The Ministry of Food and Agriculture states that few can accomplish by provisions in the Constitution on the protection of animals. A ban is only possible if animals are kept on changing place and only under adverse conditions atrocious suffering and pain are kept or transported. Previously missing data from the states, according to German media on Friday.

Animal rights organization PETA, however, sees another reason for the lack of a ban. Parliamentary leader Volker Kauder of the CDU / CSU in the Bundestag is big circus fan and was even named 'erefan 'from Zirkus Krone. His group blocking for years a ban on wild animals in circuses, says PETA campaigner Peter Höffken.
