- The German and Turkish police have done at the same time raids on a major action against smugglers. In Germany were arrested five people in Turkey ten. They are suspected of more than 1700 people in rickety boats across the Mediterranean illegally brought to Europe.

In Germany about five hundred police officers involved in raids in sixteen houses and business premises in six states, including in Berlin and Hanover. When the action were members of the anti-terrorism unit GSG 9 involved. The arrested were Syrians. In Turkey, there were raids in Istanbul, Izmir and the port city of Mersin. Among those arrested there is the suspected mastermind behind the gang.

The gang left the refugees in barely seaworthy boats without crew make the crossing. The migrants, mostly Syrians, were paying thousands of euros for the crossing. In Germany, approximately 250 asylum seekers interviewed who had been in Europe that way.

The Turkish researchers said that extremists of Islamic State and Kurds of the banned Workers Party PKK involved in smuggling.
