German suspected of poisoning colleagues

schloss holte-stukenbrock - The German police and the Public Prosecution Service look retrospectively at 21 deaths in a company since the year 2000. The suspicion has arisen that those involved have been the victims of poisoning their lunch packets.

According to the media, it concerns employees of a company in Schloss Holte-Stukenbrock (North Rhine-Westphalia), who died shortly before they retired. On Wednesday, the criminal investigation told that the cause of death was notably a heart attack or cancer.

It came in a different light through the arrest of a 56-year-old man who was also employed by this firm. He would have tried to kill colleagues by throwing poisonous powder on their sandwiches if they did not watch. Somebody noticed that there was strange stuff on his sandwich fill, after which images of surveillance cameras indicated the perpetrator.

According to a first report, it was lead acetate (devil sugar) and the amount used was enough to cause serious organ damage. In the house of the suspect, who is silent so far, substances have been found with which 'life-threatening sprinkles' can be made such as mercury, lead and cadmium.
