bonn - The Bundeskartellamt assumes the terms of use of Facebook under the microscope. Possibly violates the social media business rules in the field of personal data protection, the German competition watchdog reported Wednesday.

Facebook has a lot of information about its users. These data are used among other things to advertise very focused. That is an important source of revenue for the company.

To be allowed to keep all that information is requested permission from the general conditions. The Federal Cartel Office wants to know if Facebook users should be sufficient to give light on the scope thereof. Possible the company makes abuse of its dominant market position.

The German competition authority works closely with the European Commission. Other national regulators are involved in the research.
