German parties will expire ultimatum

World November 19, 2017 22:33

berlin - The CDU, sister party CSU, the liberal FDP and the Greens in Germany have failed to finalize the discussions for the formation of a government coalition.

The parties had set an ultimatum before 6 p.m. Sunday evening, but this was done without an agreement being reported.

According to sources around the negotiations, the parties talk on the night from Sunday to Monday. Especially in the area of immigration, the talks do not want to run smoothly. In this subject the CSU has a stricter policy than CDU, FDP and especially the Greens. The CSU wants to allow a maximum of 200,000 migrants per year, but the Greens want a smoother policy.

Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) had previously worked on finalizing negotiations last Thursday. Despite discussions until late at night, that did not work.
