berlin - The German parties SPD and CDU / CSU have agreed to enter a new phase for the formation of a government. However, it is still exploratory talks and not formal negotiations. The parties held discussions on Wednesday about the continuation of the discussions.
SPD leader Martin Schulz said on Wednesday that a good work base has been achieved 'on the basis of which preliminary exploratory talks can begin'. Angela Merkel's CDU already announced that it wanted to form a stable government with the SPD. After the exploratory meeting, the Social Democrats only want to make a decision as to whether they will actually negotiate a new government.
The SPD did not want to participate in a new government after the lost election, but came into the picture again when negotiations between CDU / CSU, the Greens and the liberal FDP broke.
