German drivers on the hunt for attackers

cologne - Representatives of the city of Cologne of Justice and the Federal Police consider Tuesday the massive assault that took place on the night of New Years Eve in the German cathedral city. The authorities now have over sixty statements within women.


         The women were at the station of the town right next to the cathedral surrounded by a group of about a thousand men between fifteen and 35 years of Arab and North African descent. They were then deprived of things like money and phones, and sexually assaulted. Many men would have been drunk.
Although the Cologne police after the first reports about one o'clock in the morning more than 140 people sent to the station and there were about another seventy federal police officers present, which could not offset the huge group of men that had gathered there. Henriette Reker mayor has announced that he will track down the perpetrators anyway. Minister Ralf Jäger of the Interior of North Rhine-Westphalia said the city in any case to be supported, according to the magazine Die Zeit.
The police are naming the origin of the suspects deliberately deviated from the directive to keep the publicity. The police believes that it should not be concealed in an exceptional case such as this. They say they now have about eighty statements from women. A third of them are sexually harassed.
The city administrators keep in mind that about a month erupts the famous Cologne carnival. They want to prevent recurrence. Reker then want more personnel support and video surveillance in the city.
