berlin - The German air force is facing major problems with the Eurofighters fleet. According to German media, only a handful of the 128 high-quality technical devices can be used.

Der Spiegel even holds only four aircraft that are fully deployable for NATO missions, for example. According to the magazine, the problem is a defect in the cooling of a sensor in the wing that is vital for a system where enemy aircraft can be traced. The problem was discovered half a year ago and apparently still not solved.

Due to the defect, Germany can not actually fulfill its NATO obligations. The country has registered 82 aircraft for crisis cases.
