French trial on Paris attacks started

paris - On Wednesday, the first trial in France begins with regard to the bloody terrorist attacks in Paris on 13 November 2015. The man who lodged perpetrators in the suburb of Saint-Denis, Jawad Bendaoud, must justify himself with two others in court.

Due to blockades of protesting prison staff, Wednesday did not seem certain that Bendaoud could be taken from the prison in Fresnes to court, but the riot police cleared the entrance to the house of detention in Fresnes. French guards have been protesting for ten days with blockades of penitentiary institutions. They demand safer working conditions, more pay and more staff.

Bendaoud gave shelter to Abdelhamid Abaaoud and Chakib Akrouh in November 2015. These were terrorists who participated in the 13 November 2015 massacre, resulting in 130 deaths and more than four hundred wounded. The Belgian Abaaoud would even have been in charge of the attacks in Paris and at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis. According to the prosecutors, Bendaoud 'kept terrorists hidden' and knew what his guests were doing.

He ends up with Mohamed Soumah and Youssef Aït Boulahcen. According to the prosecutors, Soumah would have brought the fugitives into contact with a young woman, Hasna Aït Boulahcen, who arranged a hiding place. Her brother Youssef would have known what his sister was doing, but failed to warn the police. Just like Abaaoud and Akrouh, the sister died in the police raid on November 18, 2015 in a Bendaoud residence in Saint-Denis.
