French president surprised by visiting Tour

- The French president Emmanuel Macron is a guest in the Tour de France on Wednesday.

Macron reported himself at Saint-Michel-de Maurienne where he joined the car by tour boss Christian Prudhomme.

Macron will watch the last 65 kilometers of the seventeenth stage, a heavy mountain ride, from the trailer. The president's arrival was not announced beforehand by the tour management.

Lodewijk Asscher is also in the Tour on Wednesday. The deputy vice premiere participates in the team leader of Bahrain-Merida, where Dutchman Tristan Hoffman is the team leader.
