paris - France is throwing tech giants Apple and Google to court for unfair trade practices. The French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire announced that Wednesday. The conditions that the American companies set to app makers are a thorn in the eye.

Both companies charge 30 percent of the sales price of apps to allow them in the app store. With Android phones it is still possible to put apps outside the app store of Google on the phone. That is virtually impossible with Apple. In addition, the tech giants can unilaterally adjust the conditions.

Le Maire said that Apple and Google could still be so powerful, but that they 'should not be able to handle our start-ups and developers like that'. According to the minister, the fines for US companies could run 'in millions of euros'.

Previously, Le Maires ministry was already behind Amazon in a similar case. A court is still considering this issue, in which France, according to the newspaper Le Parisien, wants to impose a fine of 10 million euros.
