Former SS \u0026 # x27; er Gröning (96) nevertheless entered the cell

karsruhe - The so-called accountant of Auschwitz does not escape his prison sentence. The Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe dismissed the appeal of 96-year-old Oskar Gröning Friday. He had argued that he could not serve a prison sentence for health reasons.

A court sentenced the former SS in 2015 to four years in prison for complicity in the murder of 300,000 people. Gröning appealed, but caught a bone. The judge ruled that he was healthy enough to disappear behind the bars. The constitutional court also saw no reason to return to the earlier judgment.

Gröning had admitted during his trial that he had taken money from deported Jews and had supervised the arrival of transports at Auschwitz extermination camp. According to the court, he cooperated in the murder of the Nazis, even though he himself had no blood on his hands.
