Former President Peres discharged from hospital

- Shimon Peres was discharged Tuesday from the hospital where he was taken Thursday after a mild heart attack. Israel's former president has been successfully treated with a narrowing of a heart artery. He stayed after surgery a few more days for observation in hospital in Tel Aviv.

The 92-year-old Peres thanked everyone for their well wishes and he said he is happy again to be able to work. He still works for the Peres Peace Centre, which is dedicated to the life side by side with Israelis and Palestinians and for the development of the Middle East.

The Polish-born Peres won the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in the interim peace accords with the Palestinians in 1993. He was twice prime minister and president from 2007 to 2014.
