- Brazil's former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva does not seem impressed by his arrest. The investigation into his person is a media spectacle and he himself has nothing to fear, Lula said Friday.

If the judge wanted to question him, had he need only ask, said Lula. However, the police picked him up Friday, an experience that gave him the feeling of being a prisoner, said the former president. Also, it was unnecessary to send agents to the homes of relatives. The interrogation and search of his home show a degree of disrespect for democracy, said Lula. According to the former president feel the elites in the country is uneasy because he has pursued the poor in the country.

Lula was earlier in the day questioned nearly four hours in a major corruption investigation. The research focuses on fraud in connection with state companies, particularly oil company Petrobras, where money would be channeled to the socialist PT or leaders of that party.

According to the prosecution businessmen have converted more than 1.8 billion bribe paid to drag Petrobras contracts on hold. Part of the money found its way to sort the OM political parties, including the PT of Lula, but also the opposition. The former president last week dismissed any suggestion that he would have personally enriched.
