Former Miss Turkey should be careful after Erdogan's ruling
- A former Miss Turkey must now count on her suit she was sentenced to 14 months suspended prison sentence for insulting Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Merve Buyuksarac (27), who was voted the cleanest Turkish, placed a satirical poem on Instagram and was not much later plucked from the street by 2014 in 2006. In the poem Erdogan was not mentioned, but it did refer to a corruption case involving the family Erdogan would be involved.
'I shared the poem because I thought it was funny. It was not my intention to insult Erdogan' Buyuksarac said when she was arrested.
