washington - Former CEO Oliver Schmidt of Volkswagen has to go to the cell of a US court for 7 years because of his role in the 'sjoemelgate'.

Schmidt worked in Detroit, where hundreds of thousands of cars were manipulated. He already confessed in August to conspiracy and fraud.

There was software in the Volkswagens that caused emissions in test situations to be much less than on the road. The scandal with the fiddle software led to great fuss worldwide.
