Fly anything unsafe in 2016

montreal - Flying was something insecure last year than in 2015. Industry association IATA had more fatal accidents and more fatalities.

Last year there were ten aircraft accidents were fatal, leaving 268 people deceased. In 2015 there were four fatal accidents with 136 victims. The average for the previous five years is 13.4 fatal accidents with 371 deaths.

The accident ratio was 0.39 last year. That means there was one major accident per 2.56 million flights. This ratio was still at 0.32 in 2015. In total last year flew 3.8 billion people in 40.4 million safe flights, according to IATA.
