Flemish MP suspected of murder
brussels - A member of the Flemish Parliament has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Christian Van Eyken allegedly involved in the murder of the husband of his mistress in July 2014.
The 61-year-old politician had long been mentioned in this murder case. The Public Prosecutor in Brussels reported his arrest Wednesday.
The 45-year-old victim was found dead half years ago on his bed in Laeken, near Brussels. He had a bullet wound behind his ear. His 38-year-old woman, also from Van Eyken employee, had called the police.
Research by the prosecution revealed that the woman had a relationship with Van Eyken and wanted to divorce her husband. She was arrested last October. Then there were also the home of Van Eyken and searched his office in parliament.
Earlier this month, lifted his parliamentary immunity, a condition for his arrest. Van Eyken sits alone on behalf of the Union des Francophones in the Flemish parliament.
