First death in the US by zikavirus

- In the United States for the first time a person deceased at the zikavirus. A man who was in his seventies, died in February in Puerto Rico to the effects of the disease, US authorities reported Friday (local time).

The man had symptoms that include fever and rash. Shortly after these symptoms were established, he developed severe bleeding. According to a doctor from an American health the man had a rare complication of the virus. So hit his autoimmune system which disrupted their own blood cells were attacking. The doctor compared the complication of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), a rare condition in which the human immune system attacks part of the nerve, usually several days after a patient became ill from a virus, bacterium or parasite.

Research should demonstrate how the zikavirus may cause this rare disease.

In Puerto Rico have been 683 people infected with the virus, including 65 pregnant women. Five patients subsequently developed GBS. The zikavirus is a major threat to public health in the country, according to US authorities. They expect this year many more infections in Puerto Rico.
