javea - Firefighters on the Costa Blanca are still working to put out a huge forest fire in the seaside resort Jávea.Verschillenden districts are still threatened by the flames. The last day a thousand people were evacuated.

More than 1400 residents and tourists have been accommodated in schools and other public buildings and have to wait when they can return home. In total some 20 hamlets evacuated. The affected forest area covers more than 800 hectares. In the region are also many travelers, including Dutch. Also with them is the big panic.

The Spanish authorities assume that the fires are ignited. The fires are so spread out that a natural cause may be virtually impossible, according to the Guardia Civil. According to the fire department, the arsonist has picked perfect conditions: high temperatures, low humidity and Sunday there was also a fairly strong wind. No arrests have yet been made.
