- Universal Music Group and music streaming Soundcloud after years of negotiations have reached a licensing agreement. Universal manages the rights of artists as Sam Smith and U2.


         The agreement SoundClound access the catalog of Universal and get connected artists the opportunity to earn money from the ads that are displayed when their music is played via the free service. In addition, the record company will have access to analyzes and data of the streaming service to convert as his stage even better in the market.
SoundClound world has 175 million users who use the service to discover new music. Artists like Kanye West and Miley Cyrus use the platform to promote their music.
SoundClound already previously reached a licensing agreement with Warner Music Group and Merlin, a consortium of independent labels. Sony is the only major label where no agreement has been reached with.
SoundClound was launched in 2008 and has become one of the most popular streaming music services. Unlike Spotify and other services had until 2014 with no label license. For over a year shows SoundClound ads in the service. The company later this year with a paid subscription without ads.
