freetown - In a suburb of Sierra Leone's capital, Freetown, hundreds of people are probably buried by a mud flow. Vice President Victor Foh fears that many have not survived.

The mudflow occurred Monday morning early in the mountain town of Regent, where dozens of houses were flooded due to heavy rainfall. There is nothing officially known about numbers of deaths.

'There are probably hundreds of dead below the mud,' said Foh. He added that many houses in the area were built illegally.,

, The disaster is so serious that I feel broken, 'he said. 'We are trying to evacuate the area and evacuate the people. '

According to the Sierra Leone Telegraph, more than two hundred bodies have been brought to the local hospital's mortuary. Among the dead would be sixty children.

Emergency services have trouble saving people because they are locked in their homes by the mud. Also, the affected area is difficult to reach because a major road has been closed by the mud.
