hammouriyeh - The Syrian army has forced an opening from the place Hammouriyeh located in the besieged East-Ghouta region. Syrian media reported that a stream of citizens is fleeing the city.

Observers from the SOHR (Syrian Observatory for Human Rights) reported that at least 3,000 people are fleeing the place.

According to the Syrian authorities, civilians are held as hostages and as a human shield against the advance of the government army. East Ghouta, east of the capital Damascus, has been under siege since 2013.

It is in the hands of various combat groups, especially jihadists such as those of Jaish al-Islam (Army of Islam). Some years ago, a few years ago, they let hostage civilians ride around in cages or drop them at places where they expected an attack.
