- Everyone is welcome at the funeral of Muhammad Ali, the legendary boxer who died over the weekend at the age of 74. Thursday afternoon (local time) a prayer service will be held in the hall where Ali in November 1961 defeated his opponent Willi Besmanoff. The service has an Islamic character because Ali was a Muslim, but adherents of all religions are welcome.

Friday follows a funeral procession through his hometown of Louisville, and is retiring in a basketball arena. Former President Bill Clinton, sports presenter Bryant Gumbel and friend Billy Crystal will speak, and the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and King Abdullah II of Jordan.
