treuenbrietzen - A large forest fire southwest of Berlin led to the evacuation of two villages on Thursday evening. The authorities of the municipality of Treuenbrietzen instructed the inhabitants of Tiefenbrunnen and Klausdorf to leave their homes as quickly as possible with the help of the most necessary (papers and medicines) and to follow the instructions of aid workers.

How many people had to seek a safe haven is not exactly known. In the meantime, 300 hectares have already gone up in flames. The population of the region is advised to keep windows and doors closed because of the smoke development.

The fire started Thursday afternoon and spread quickly. The extinguishing activities are made more difficult because there is still a lot of ammunition in the ground in the area.
