Eurotunnel wants compensation for refugees

- Eurotunnel claims 29 million from the British and French governments for the lost revenue and additional costs incurred by refugees trying to reach via Calais Britain.

According to the company that operates the tunnel between the two countries, affected passenger and cargo connections in the second half of last year had under the stream of refugees. The terrorist attacks in Paris in November had affected the transport of high-speed trains rush through the tunnel.

The required compensation is primarily intended for the fall in income, as well as compensation for the deployment of additional staff, reports The Guardian.

Especially the night train traffic was halted between June and October several times as refugees tried to hide in trains. The number of trains driving through the tunnel, making it last year dropped to 17 percent in 2421.
