rome - The outspoken Eurosceptic Italian MoVimento 5 Stelle (M5S- Five Star Movement) has 'converted' to the euro. Party leader Luigi Di Maio said it is no longer a goal of the M5S to get Italy out of the euro zone.

'I believe that it is no longer opportune for Italy to give up the euro. I hope to avoid a referendum on the euro, 'Di Maio said Tuesday to the public broadcaster RAI.

The M5S was founded in October 2009 as a movement against the established order. The movement screens with left and right ideas and is called populist. The founder is a comedian and blogger, Beppe Grillo.

He was succeeded as leader by Di Maio in September in the hope that the party will be given governmental responsibility. The position to abolish the euro by means of a referendum was an obstacle to the movement. The M5S is good for polls in the March elections. According to the rules of his own party in elections, Grillo can not formally stand on a list of candidates for the M5S, because he has a criminal record as a result of a fatal traffic accident. The M5S repels people with a criminal record.
