brussels - The sanctions imposed by the European Union against Russia due to the annexation of the Crimea in 2014 have been extended to 23 June 2019. European companies are not allowed to import or invest products from the Crimea. The export of certain goods and technologies is prohibited, as is the provision of tourist services. For example, European cruise ships may only berth in case of emergency.

The EU sanctions against individuals due to the incorporation of Crimea and rebel support in eastern Ukraine were already extended by six months in March. This concerns travel bans and freezing of assets. In May, five names were added to the list, bringing the total to 155 people and 38 organizations.

The EU also has economic sanctions against Russia. They will expire on July 31 and are expected to be extended if the Minsk agreements on Ukraine are not better respected.
