Euro Parliament suspends Pole because of sexism

strasbourg - Polish MEP Janusz Korwin-Mikke is severely punished for sexist statements he made early this month. He said during a debate that women should earn less than men because they are 'weaker, smaller and less intelligent.'

The 74-year-old Pole was adjourned for ten days and the parliament should not represent a year. He has thirty days not entitled to the daily allowance of more than 300 euros.

Parliament President Antonio Tajani said on Tuesday never to accept such behavior. Such severe penalties are not previously distributed, he said, pointing to the gravity of the breach of the code of conduct.

Tajani apologized to anyone who feels hurt by Korwin-Mikkes' statements. The Pole was already suspended in 2015 for bringing the Nazi salute in the EU Parliament.
