EU maintains nuclear deal with Iran

brussels - The agreements on the cessation of the Iranian nuclear weapons program that Tehran made in 2015 with global superpowers are working and the EU is adhering to it. Implementation is essential for security in Europe and beyond, EU foreign delegation Federica Mogherini said Wednesday in Brussels.

The Italian answered questions about reports from the US government about a possible new nuclear deal with Iran. She referred to statements by French President Macron, who visited Trump this week and also stated that the so-called JCPOA deal works. 'It has prevented Iran from developing a nuclear weapon and does not bind the country to do so, without a limit,' says Mogherini.

President Trump has often expressed his dissatisfaction with the atomic agreement. He called it Tuesday 'insane' and 'ridiculous'. Macron proposed an opening by 'building something new that meets all our concerns'.

' We see what the future brings, but for now the deal must be maintained '', Mogherini concluded.
