EU firmly insists on Iran deal

brussels/rome - The EU maintains the nuclear program with Iran. 'This agreement is essential for security in Europe. We are determined to protect our citizens in this way ', says EU foreign chief Federica Mogherini on behalf of the EU from Rome on President Trump's decision to withdraw the US from the so-called JCPOA deal.

According to Mogherini, the agreement concluded in 2015 will prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. She says she fully relies on the judgment of the United Nations atomic agency, IAEA, which has 'declared ten times that Iran is keeping to the agreements'. She says she has 'worries' about the announcement that the US will again take sanctions against Iran.
