Erdogan wants to return to AK party

ankara - Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan is applying for membership of the ruling AK party. He waits until the final result is known from the referendum on expanding the presidential powers, said the president's spokesman.

Erdogan had to be above the party politics as president, but that condition is due to expire because of the outcome of the parliamentary consultation. Erdogan became prime minister in 2003, but gave that post in 2014 because, for procedural reasons, he could not become prime minister for the fourth time. He won the presidential elections in his country that same year.
