Earthquake in Afghanistan

- An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 has hit the northwestern province Sunday Chitral Pakistan and northeastern Afghanistan. The quake occurred at a depth of 210 kilometers in a remote and mountainous area near the border with Afghanistan and Tajikistan. According to local media, two people were killed.

The earthquake was felt in the capitals of both countries, Islamabad and Kabul. In the Indian capital New Delhi and the quake was registered in the Indian state of Kashmir. New Delhi precaution was underground shut down for some time. The epicenter was under US USGS organization in the Afghan city Eshkashem.

The area was the end of October last year also been affected by an earthquake (strength 7.5). At the time, more than three hundred people were killed and thousands of homes were destroyed.
