Dutch Filmworks is hunting for illegal downloader

wooden - Film distributor Dutch Filmworks opens the end of October to hunt for illegal movie downloaders. The illegal viewers get a settlement proposal of several hundred euros per illegally downloaded movie or series, reports RTL Z.

Dutch Filmworks switches the German company Excipion to detect the IP addresses of illegal downloaders for six weeks. With this list, the movie distributor enters the providers to find out the IP addresses. The company must still get the final permission from the Personal Data Authority to collect the IP addresses. The supervisor has already given conditional consent.

The providers Ziggo, XS4ALL and KPN only tell customers to submit their private data when a judge claims it. According to ICT lawyer Arnoud Engelfriet, the probability that the judicial providers are obliged to hand over the private data of illegal downloaders.
